It is asystem <strong>of</strong> thought, feeling, and action that is shared by a group and that gives themembers an object <strong>of</strong> devotion, a code <strong>of</strong> behaviour by which individuals may judgethe personal and social consequences <strong>of</strong> their actions. It is a frame <strong>of</strong> reference bywhich individuals relate to their group and the universe85 percent <strong>of</strong> thepopulation wereChristiansThe 2002 <strong>Census</strong> classified the population into nine different religious beliefs, with aresidual category <strong>of</strong> ‘Others’ for those whose belief did not fall in any specified groups.Table 3.10 shows that the majority <strong>of</strong> the population belonged to the Christian faith.The Catholics were 42 percent <strong>of</strong> the total population while the Anglicans were 37percent. The Moslems came third with 12 percent.30
