Standard HIV tests will show a positive HIV test in children born toHIV-infected mothers until they are 18 months old.2. The same “window period” of three months applies to HIV antibodytests on babies as in adults.b. A negative antibody test on a baby proves that the baby was notHIV infected within the past few months. ART in children reduces opportunistic diseases, hospitalizations,prolongs survival, and improves the quality of life.d. Similar ART regimens are used.e.
