Make sure thefollowing issues are mentioned :• A person’s partner could still be HIV-negative, so the couple couldstill prevent a new infection.• HIV-positive people need to disclose their HIV status to sexualpartners and engage in safe sex in order to prevent passing theirinfection to others.<strong>Facilitator</strong>’s <strong>Guide</strong>3Adherence to Treatment for HIV• A person can become reinfected with a different type of HIV froma partner. This can make a person’s immune system weaker.• A person can become reinfected with a drug resistant HIV virus.3. Explain that we are going to spend some time looking at issuesrelated to the four bullets above : 1) discordancy* of HIV status incouples; 2) disclosure; 3) HIV reinfection and 4) transmission ofdrug resistant strain. To do this, divide the participants into foursmall groups.4. Pass out role-play cards : Prevention role-plays. Alternatively, youcan give the assignment to the group verbally using the trainer’sresource ‘A’ as a guide. Allow each group 10 minutes to preparetheir role-play.
