The methodologyand the activities in the curriculum are simple, but if need ariseseach session can be modified as per the facilitator’s discretiondepending on the time and number of participants. Facilitators arealso encouraged to use energizers in between sessions to keep theparticipants alert and cheer them up.The sessions in the curriculum have been designed so that a team oftwo to three facilitators works together, to ensure that the sequenceof activities are logical and the transition between them smooth.Working in teams reduces stage fear and performance anxiety thatis inherent to the nature of job thus allowing trainers to deliver themessages in a more relaxed manner. The facilitating team membersshould plan well in advance for conducting each session and assignresponsibilities for handling specific tasks for each session. However,they should feel free to be creative and flexible and be prepared toimprovise in the event there are unexpected constraints of time,resources or other limiting factors.Facilitators should note that the training is designed at a pace that isconducive for participant comfort with smooth transitions from onesection of the agenda to the next, summarizing what has been learnt,reminding participants of where they are with respect to the agendaand the learning objectives, followed by an introduction and therationale for the subsequent section. Facilitators should ensure thatthe participants are engaged, checking in with them frequently beforeand at the end of the sessions to determine their understanding ofthe subjects and the task at hand and making sure their questionsare answered or documented for later attention.The Facilitator Guide contains only the Trainer’s Notes and Resources.It does not contain the handouts so the facilitator needs to refer theParticipant Manual throughout the training. Along with the Guide,the facilitators should read all the handouts in the participant manualwell in advance and become very familiar with the technical contentand the training methodology.3
How to use the facilitator guideThe Schedule at the beginning of each day is intended to giveat-a-glance information on the activities for the day. It also lists allthe materials that will be required to conduct these activities, sothat the trainers can keep them ready at the beginning of the day.The recommended time for each activity is also mentioned thiswill help them to plan the day better.Trainer’s NotesThe Training Notes provided for each session lays out instructionsfor the facilitators on how to conduct the session. Each sessionbegins by listing the objectives for that session. The facilitatorsshould clearly spell out the objectives by requesting one of theparticipants to volunteer and read them out to the whole group atthe start of each session. At the end of the session after summarizingthe key information for that session the facilitator should refer back4
