basic knowledge, skills, and strategies for teaching<br />

EED 741. Health & PE Curriculum in Elementary<br />

School (1) F. Provides prospective teachers<br />

with the knowledge and skills to plan, teach, and<br />

evaluate health and physical education programs<br />

EED 751. Fieldwork in Elementary School<br />

(2). Orientation to the elementary school and<br />

classroom. Analyze school/classroom organization<br />

and teaching styles. Observation and limited<br />

participation teaching individuals/small groups.<br />

[Minimum 14 hrs per week in assigned school<br />

during weeks 2-8 of fall semester. CR/NC. Prereq:<br />

admitted to EED.]<br />

EED 752. Student Teaching in Elementary School<br />

(6). Practice teaching individuals, small groups, and<br />

large groups with close guidance from teacher. Attend<br />

to cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of<br />

children. [Full-time fieldwork in assigned classrooms<br />

during the first week and last 7 weeks of fall semester.<br />

EED 753. Fieldwork in Elementary School<br />

(3). Orientation to the elementary school and<br />

classroom. Analyze school/classroom organization<br />

and teaching styles. Observation and limited<br />

EED 757. Advanced Student Teaching (1-10).<br />

Assignment in elementary or secondary school<br />

program. May be in a special subject; may entail<br />

experimentation with methods of teaching.<br />

EED 776. Mainstreaming (2). Concept and<br />

practice, as provided in California Master Plan<br />

for Special Education. Referral, assessment,<br />

and appropriate modifications for special needs<br />

pupils. Fulfills special education requirement for a<br />

clear (Ryan) multiple or single subject credential.<br />

[Prereq: a teaching credential or accep tance into<br />

a teacher credential program and concurrently<br />

enrolled in student teaching fieldwork classes.]<br />

EED 790. Supervised Field Experience (1-3).<br />

Directed observation of select aspects of school<br />

and small group instruction in language<br />

ENGL 60. Intensive Reading & Composition—<br />

Activity (2). Instruction in small, individualized lab<br />

sessions for students enrolled in ENGL 100A who<br />

have an HSU English code of 20. Units earned do<br />

NC. Prereq: EPT score of 139-147 or successful<br />

readings in representative literary works.<br />

(4). Aims and methods of literary scholarship<br />

and criticism, to prepare for upper division work.<br />

Recommended first course in the major. One of<br />

four units is individualized instruction on assigned<br />

ENGL 180. Macintosh Literacy for the 21st<br />

Century (3). Theoretical/practical introduction<br />

to the Macintosh as a communication tool in arts<br />

and humanities.<br />

ENGL 200. <strong>Academic</strong> Writing & Revision<br />

Workshop (3). Revising ENGL 100/ENGL 100A<br />

portfolio and/or creating new essays. Critical<br />

reading of student texts. Workshop and lecture.<br />

Final assessment based on writing portfolio. Students<br />

who failed ENGL 100/ENGL 100A portfolio<br />

must complete this course to fulfill GE. Students<br />

who don’t pass portfolio must repeat ENGL 200.<br />
