Certificates of Study<br />

Certificates of study are collec tions of courses<br />

in sub jects other than those in which<br />

majors or min ors are of fered. A certi ficate<br />

of study is not the same as a teaching certificate,<br />

a credential, or a license.<br />

Art Museum & Gallery Practices<br />

Courses provide preparatory experience for<br />

working in art museums and commercial<br />

galleries or pursuing graduate studies in<br />

the museum field. Study issues and topics<br />

related to museum and gallery operations<br />

and practice curatorship, registration, exhibition<br />

design and art preparation firsthand<br />

through production of actual art exhibitions<br />

for the on-campus Reese Bullen Gallery and<br />

in local museums and galleries off campus.<br />

This certificate may be of particular interest<br />

to students majoring in art, anthropology,<br />

history, education, Native American studies,<br />

education or business administration.<br />

Bioinformatics<br />

This inter-disciplinary program exposes<br />

biology, biochemistry, computer science,<br />

fisheries, math, and wildlife students to<br />

bioinformatics tools and their applications,<br />

and provides them hands-on experience in<br />

practicing those skills. Students earning this<br />

certificate become more competitive for entry<br />

into master’s and Ph.D. programs and for<br />

jobs in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.<br />

Augments the prepa r a tion of stu dents<br />

seeking a secondary education cre den tial<br />

who wish to teach economics courses at<br />

Wildland Fire Management<br />

Curriculum is designed for those wishing to<br />

fire ecology, management of wildland fuels,<br />

courses to help qualify for employment with<br />

various agencies and companies that manage<br />

wildlands. This program is specifically<br />

designed to help students to partially meet<br />

the educational requirements for the GS-<br />

401 Fire Management Specialist job series.<br />
