SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />

Having a strong foundation regarding the principles of ventral hernia surgery helps to build an effective hernia<br />

practice. This Masters 100 session will focus on pathophysiology, different techniques of repair, avoidance of<br />

complications, and mesh selection from the experts in the field.<br />

SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />

• Recommend the type(s) of hernia repair which may best suit the patient<br />

• Differentiate between types of abdominal wall closure to prevent hernias<br />

• Recognize patients who require preoperative comorbidity modification prior to surgery<br />
