SESSION DESCRIPTION
Having a strong foundation regarding the principles of ventral hernia surgery helps to build an effective hernia
practice. This Masters 100 session will focus on pathophysiology, different techniques of repair, avoidance of
complications, and mesh selection from the experts in the field.
SESSION OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Recommend the type(s) of hernia repair which may best suit the patient
• Differentiate between types of abdominal wall closure to prevent hernias
• Recognize patients who require preoperative comorbidity modification prior to surgery
