Thursday, March 23, 2017 SAGES 2017 Surgical Spring Week 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM *Included in Registration SuperPass (Option A) or Registration Option B AAST Joint Panel: Acute Care Surgery Chair: Robert Lim, MD | Co-Chair: Kimberly Davis, MD, MBA SESSION DESCRIPTION The acute care surgery model encompasses urgent general surgery, trauma and surgical critical care, delivering time sensitive care to patients requiring urgent and emergent surgical interventions. Traditionally, these operations have been performed in an open manner. However, with the increased utilization of laparoscopy, there may be a roll for increasing the use of laparoscopy in the acute care setting. The purpose of this session is to identify the explore the role for laparoscopic interventions in the provision of acute care surgery.
