SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />

Enhanced recovery is an established perioperative care plan in colorectal surgery. The feasibility and efficacy in noncolorectal<br />

fields is in evolution. The purpose of this session is to describe goals, strategies and tactics for achieving<br />

success with these unique programs. Special emphasis will be on analytic models and future directions in clinical<br />

research regarding enhanced recovery pathways.<br />

SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />

• Describe how system science including factor analysis can be used to measure the success of enhanced recovery<br />

• Describe the elements and outcomes related to enhanced recovery after these types of surgery:<br />

- Foregut/esophagus<br />

There are some controversial subjects, for which we think we have the answers. Sometimes, however, there is a lack<br />

of evidence to support these “facts” which are actually just myths. In this session we will hear from experts across the<br />

Americas who will discuss some controversial “facts” and present both sides of the coin so that you can decide fact or<br />

myth for yourself.<br />
