SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />

Advances in technology and communications have made telementoring an important part of training, knowledge<br />

and skill acquisition, collaboration, and outreach. This session focuses on technical logistics, real life practices, and<br />

emerging technologies that utilize telementoring to train, mentor, and coach in the global arena.<br />

SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />

• Recognize the technical requirements needed to implement a telementoring program<br />

• Compare how various technologies are being used today for telementoring different types of surgical procedures<br />

globally<br />

• Identify new technology that is being developed to improve telementoring and distance learning in the future<br />
