SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />
Over 250,000 colorectal resections are performed in the USA annually. Less than 50%, however, are being done using<br />
a minimally invasive approach. This session will focus on the indications for and strategies to successfully perform<br />
laparoscopic left colectomy and LAR.<br />
SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />
• Identify problem areas in performing laparoscopic take down of the splenic flexure and learn different techniques to<br />
approach a difficult flexure<br />
• Formulate a minimally invasive operative plan for the treatment of diverticulitis<br />
• Develop a reproducible operative approach for a laparoscopic and/or robotic left colectomy and pTME resection<br />
