SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />
Surgical training is currently undergoing significant changes and current techniques and management strategies<br />
are becoming obsolete. This session will cover topics related to fellowship training models that range from using<br />
milestones, simulation and mental training.Faculty will also address what the main entry points for fellows are in<br />
order to achieve mastery when starting an independent surgical practice. Program directors, residents and fellows will<br />
benefit greatly by attending this session.<br />
SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />
• Describe a milestone-based training model or fellowship training<br />
• Employ new strategies such as simulation and mental training to achieve mastery in a shorter period of time<br />
• Define entry points when transitioning to practice<br />
