This session will focus on simulation, augmented virtual reality, procedure specific modules and team training as adjuncts to new robotic platforms that may help surgeons and their teams overcome the learning curve. SESSION OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: • Appreciate the value of robotic specific procedure simulation • Understand the value of team training to overcome the learning curve • Describe the pros and cons of new robotic platforms ACTIVITY OUTLINE Time Presentation Title Invited Faculty 4:30PM Procedure specific Robotic simulation and augmented virtual reality Eduardo Parra-Davila, MD 4:40PM Impact of social media on the robotic learning curve (24/7) Adrian P. Friday, March 24, 2017 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM *Included in Registration SuperPass (Option A) or Registration Option C SSAT Joint Panel: Incidental GI Findings during Surgery Chair: Kinga Powers, MD, PhD | Co-Chair: Nathaniel Soper, MD SESSION DESCRIPTION Incidental intraoperative findings pose unexpected challenges in clinical decision making and patient treatment. Guidance on operating beyond the scope of the initial surgical consent is difficult to find and may have significant medicolegal implications. General Surgeons need to anticipate facing potential unexpected findings unrelated or inconsistent with the primary diagnosis and have a sound strategy to manage them. SESSION OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: • Articulate the ethical and medicolegal issues surrounding the management of unanticipated intraoperative findings • Employ strategies to manage incidentally discovered HPB masses • Recognize intraoperative findings that will necessitate changing tactics when managing colorectal malignancy • Identify benign pathology that should change the planned operative procedure ACTIVITY OUTLINE Time Presentation Title Invited Faculty 4:30PM Ethical and medico-legal considerations of Incidental Surgical Findings Steven D.
