Managing Adults with Congenital Surgical Anomalies

SESSION DESCRIPTION
While congenital anomalies are largely repaired in childhood, some present in adult hood. Additionally, patients with
complex congenital disorders increasingly survive to adulthood and transition into the adult system of surgical care.
This session will focus on practical management of adults with congenital gastrointestinal disorders.
SESSION OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Predict potential complications related to prior repair of congenital anomalies
• Manage the adult presentation, complications, and long-term consequences of congenital gastrointestinal anomalies
• Organize a transition of care from pediatric to adult care for particularily complicated surgical patients

new research and products will assure that attendees can take away key messages tailored for the near future. The
abstract submission deadline is in early 2017 to allow for late-breaking developments.
