SESSION DESCRIPTION<br />

This session will review both established and innovative strategies and approaches for teaching surgical knowledge,<br />

skills, and attitudes to learners and trainees. It will include discussions related to curriculum development,<br />

assessment, and technology. This session is intended for those individuals involved in surgical education, from<br />

fellowship/program/clerkship directors to clinical faculty.<br />

SESSION OBJECTIVES<br />

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:<br />

• Integrate assessment tools with evidence of validity and reliability into the evaluation of technical and nontechnical<br />

skills<br />

• Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of various proficiency-driven curricula for surgical<br />

education<br />

• Incorporate technology into surgical education in new and innovative ways<br />
