FINAL PREPARATION
The Final Touches
1. Make sure that you are familiar with the testing center location and nearby parking
facilities.
2. Spend the last week of preparation on a general review of key concepts and test-taking
strategies and techniques.
3. Don’t cram the night before the exam. It is a waste of time!
4. Arrive at the testing center in plenty of time.
5. Remember to bring the proper materials: identification, admission ticket, five or six
sharpened Number 2 pencils, an eraser, and a watch.
6. Start off crisply, working the questions you know first, then going back and trying to
answer the others.
7. Try to eliminate one or more choices before you guess, but make sure that you fill in all
the answers. There is no penalty for guessing.
8. Mark in reading passages, underline key words, write out important information, and make
notations on diagrams. Take advantage of being permitted to write in the test booklet.
9. Make sure that you answer what is being asked and that your answer is
reasonable.
10. Cross out incorrect choices immediately: This can keep you from reconsidering a choice
that you have already eliminated.
11. Using the information in the “Successful Approaches to the Mulitple-Choice Questions”
section is the key to getting right the questions that you should get right — resulting in a
good score on the CBEST exam.
