tarkika-logicians; mimarhsaka-followers of mimarhsa philosophy; yata-all;
mayavadi-gaQa-followers of Sankaracafya; sankhya-followers of Kapila;
patarija/a-followers of mystic yoga; smrti-supplementary Vedic literatures;
puraQa-PuriiQas; agama-the tantra-sastras.
TRANSLATION
There are many kinds of philosophers. Some are logicians who follow
Gautama or Ka�ada. Some follow the mimarilsa philosophy of Jaimini. Some
follow the Mayavada philosophy of Sankaracarya, and others follow Kapila's
sankhya philosophy or the mystic yoga system of Pataiijali. Some follow the
sm!1i-sastra composed of twenty religious scriptures, and others follow the
Pura�as and the tantra-sastra. In this way there are many different types of
philosophers.
