Biomass-Fueled, Small-Scale, Integrated-Gasifier, Gas-Turbine Power Plant: Progress Report on the Phase 2 Development
Purvis, C. R.; Craig, J. D.; 2000; 10p; In English; Bioenergy 2000 Conference, Buffalo, NY., October 17, 2000
Report No.(s): PB2001-101544; No Copyright; Avail: National Technical Information Service (NTIS)
Cratech, Inc. is processing with a three-phase effort to develop a small-scale biomass-fueled power plant. The biomass power
plant concept envisioned is an air-blown pressurized fluidized-bed gasifier followed by a dry hot gas cleanup system with the
resulting clean hot gas injected into the combustion chamber of a gas-turbine engine. This paper reports the latest efforts to complete
development of Phase 2. Phase 2 is the design and construction of an upgraded gasification system based on the Phase 1
results. It is capable of providing pressurized hot clean gas for fueling a gas-turbine engine. Phase 3 is the modification of a gas-turbine
engine to operate on the fuel produced by the Phase 2 system. A small gas-turbine generator package has been procured and
will provide for economical fuel system and combustor modification, and subsequent testing.
NREL PV Working With Industry is a quarterly newsletter devoted to the research, development, and deployment performed
by NREL staff in concert with their industry and university partners. The Second Quarter, 2000, issue is titled ’Our Shared PV
Future’. It contains a review of several important PV-related meetings held in the prior three months: the NCPV Program Review,
the 16 European PV Conference, and year-2000 Earth Day activities in Denver, CO. The editorialist is Paul Maycock, Publisher
of PV News.
Advanced Processing of CdTe- and CuIn(x)Ga(1-x)Se2-Based Solar Cells, Phase 1
Morel, D. L.; Ferekides, C. S.; Sep. 05, 2000; 58p; In English
Report No.(s): DE00-763540; NREL/SR-520-28796; No Copyright; Avail: Department of Energy Information Bridge, Microfiche
The main tasks of the cadmium telluride portion of this project include the development of simplified processing for fabricating
high-efficiency CdTe solar cells, studies on the long-term stability of CdTe devices, and the development of alternative transparent
conducting oxides, window layers, and back contacts. The second portion of this project focused on CIGS solar cells. The
main tasks include the development of a manufacturable process for CIGS devices and the development of high-band-gap alloys
for use in tandem cell structures. Additional objectives include development of improved junction formation processing and con-
