I Premio de Arquitectura Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre

This single–family house is located in Lomo de Taliarte, in
the municipality of Telde, Gran Canaria, and occupies a
single floor with a basement. The ground floor typology
is in a U shape, optimizing the distribution of the rooms
based on where they face and the house’s leisure areas.
There is a dialogue between the main volumes of the
building, the living room and main bedroom by means
of the symbolic conflict of the U itself, that adopts two
different opposed positions, whereby the hallway that
joins them and where the rest of the rooms are distributed
as a volume of vertical slats and textures, as a transition
between the different spaces. The main piece is a terrace
that subtly reaches down to the ground with a floating
staircase made from precast pieces of washed concrete.
The swimming pool is located to the front, in the space
created by the intimacy provided by the “U” typology, and
this leads to the final formal game of this inverted “U” by
reflecting the living room piece in the water.
