Based on this final ruling, the restoration project was

drafted. The works to be performed could be divided into

three fundamental elements:

Access from the cliff, carried out in Corten steel, next to a

basalt cut.

A coastal path, performed in treated wood and different

coloured blocks of porphyry.

Connections between the vehicles and the coastal path, in

treated wood.

Raised above the natural land.

Therefore, the natural runoffs are kept, the endemism

species of El Confital will be recovered and the whole surface

between the vehicle access and the coastal path will be

naturalised. The desire to create a “non–urban” proposal

has meant that any intervention had to be carried out in

coordination with the natural environment. The basalt rock

demonstrates its material strength as the Corten pathway is

laid over it, the volcanology episode of the porphyry blocks

highlight the changes of the coastline and the wooden

footboards make the natural floor seem like an object in a

museum.

On the other hand, it is all conceived based on its social

usage. The cliff path, further to providing a safe access,

provides a view of the beach which up until now was not

possible to see for the beach visitors. The porphyry blocks are

a place for meeting, sunbathing, leaving boards or neoprene

suits, taking in the landscape, etc. The different colours of the

blocks mean that people can choose one or the other based

on the sunshine at the time, the darker ones for cloudy days

and the lighter ones for the hotter sunny days. The wooden

footboards are ideal for taking a stroll, watching the surfers

in the water, meeting up with friends, sunbathing, etc.
