The new restaurant called Deliciosa Marta has been the
silting of the full restoration of the building located at
number 33 of Pérez Galdós street.
It was a two-storey building that sat on a plot of land
of approximately 230 m 2 , which was divided into two
separate sections: one of larger dimensions which fronts
onto Pérez Galdós street, which is the one that was
originally built, and a second building to the rear, with no
architectural value and that did not take into account the
structure configuration or the typology of the building,
and which seems to have been built at a later stage. The
original use of the building was for dwellings, one per floor.
The proposal that was submitted consisted in a full
restoration of the building to change its purpose, keeping
the upper floor as a residential dwelling but turning the
ground floor into a commercial premise. The property
suffered severe structural and building deficiencies.
The works are aimed at recovering the usability of the
building, by modernising its installations. To this extent,
we had to guarantee that the values that motivated its
original cataloguing are respected, as well as the typological
features regarding the spatial, volume and morphological
organisation of the building. Special emphasis is placed on
the maintenance of the shape of the original patio and the
original location of the framework not only of the first bay,
but throughout the whole project. In order to achieve this,
a change in the position of the main stair’s landing was
suggested on the second floor, more appropriately located
for the residential use of the floor as it improves circulation
and ventilation. In addition, this improved the presence of
the staircase as an important element of the building, as
