Catullus in Libya
Cátulo en Libia
At nights I removed my penis
but in the morning it grew whole again.
We sat at the shore, the sea’s sulcus, & edged
into the light that burns the Sahara. These women
I love make me also love their men: full of semen is my
purse, which pays the price and is paid in return.
I use them as if I had bought them for myself,
again and again their groins bursting
my anus
a flower at the furthest end of the desert
that plows through conquerors with petals.
Yet one day Libya I must flee, as I fled scorched
India, and deny the light that owns my soft marrow.
I will tell them of my love for her, this woman
of sand. My beheaded penis will not come
back like the sparrow on the cedar tree.
A bad rhyme I will be. Fuck me.
Mi pene decapitado no volverá
como regresa el gorrión al cedro.
Una mala rima seré. Fóllenme.
