DESTINATIONS
Sainte Marie Airport is a tourist-oriented
airport because it is the most frequented by
tourists. Located 11 kms south-west of the
town of Sainte Marie, the airport is quiet and
offers a pleasant view upon arrival.
Sainte Marie Airport, called "Ravoraha", provides Sainte
Marie's air connectivity with the rest of the Malagasy territory
and Reunion Island. The extension of the terminal, carried out
in 2015, has tripled the area used (1502m²) for a capacity of up to
50,000 passengers per year. The airline Air Madagascar provides
regular national and regional flights linking the island of Sainte
Marie with the rest of the Malagasy territory as well as with the
island of Réunion. More than 25,000 passengers were registered
at Sainte Marie airport in 2016.
The terminal has recently been redesigned with a new sound
system, new electronic scales for airlines, new seats, a new VIP
Lounge, new shops, one of which is under customs control,
and above all an air conditioning system. It makes Sainte Marie
the first air-conditioned air terminal in Madagascar. Since the
island of Sainte Marie is a popular tourist destination known
throughout the world through the whale festival, a master plan
has been realised for a long-term vision of the evolution of the
airport, meeting the objectives
to optimise airport capacity at
the Ravoraha site, including: the
construction of a new terminal and
the tarmac in the southern part of
the airport right-of-way, allowing
two B737 and ATR aircraft to be
accommodated simultaneously.
These infrastructures will be
accompanied by equipment
complying with ICAO standards,
a platform of 27 000 m² of
commercial and hotel park aimed
at developing the seaside and
tourist facilities of Nattes Island.
Plus de 25 000
passagers ont
été enregistrés
sur l’aéroport
de Sainte Marie
