Andranomandevy
signifie littéralement

Ambanja, région
propice à la culture de
cacaoyer, de la vanille,
du café et de poivre se
trouve dans le Nord-
Ouest de Madagascar vers Diégo
Suarez. Elle est traversée par
le célèbre fleuve de Sambirano.
Andranomandevy est un village
localisé à une trentaine de km de
la ville d’Ambanja.
Andranomandevy signifie
littéralement « là où l’eau bout »,
nom tiré d’une source thermale
qui sort de la terre et localisée à
proximité. C’est un endroit sacré
où des cultes importants du
village ont lieu. L’eau chaude est
particulièrement préservée du fait
de ses attraits thérapeutiques. Le
marécage aux alentours de l’eau
thermale sert de niche pour des
milliers d’oiseaux. Les animaux tels
les zébus domestiques y trouvent des éléments nutritifs, semble-t-il.
Andranomandevy se trouve au bord du fleuve et n’est pas facile
d’accès : il faut emprunter un sentier secondaire et faire la traversée
du Sambirano en pirogue et en charrette pour s’y rendre, un circuit
incontournable pour mieux tirer profit de la ressource thermale
d’Andranomandevy. Le village est entouré de plantations de cacao,
réputées pour le sérieux de ses producteurs ; principale activité
génératrice de revenus des habitants.

Ambanja, an area conducive
to the cultivation of cocoa,
vanilla, coffee and pepper,
is located in the north-west
of Madagascar towards
Diégo Suarez. It is crossed by the famous
Sambirano river. Andranomandevy is a
village located about 30 km from Ambanja.
Andranomandevy literally means "where
the water boils", a name taken from a thermal
spring that comes out of the earth and localised
to its proximity. It is a sacred place where
important cults of the village take place. Hot
water is particularly preserved because of its
therapeutic attractions. The swamp around
the thermal water serves as a niche for
thousands of birds. Even animals such
as the domestic zebus find nutrients
there, it seems.
Andranomandevy is located on the
river bank and is not easily accessible:
you have to take a secondary path and
cross the Sambirano in a dugout canoe
and a cart to get there, an essential tour
to profit from the Andranomandevy
Thermal Spa resource. The village
is surrounded by cocoa plantations;
known for the seriousness of its
producers, it is the main activity
generating income to the inhabitants.
