Medicine has been evolving rapidly in recent times. New methods that are
much more qualified for quick diagnosis and significantly more incisive therapeutic
applications have sparked an acceleration in all fields.
Increased costs for purchasing instruments combined with more intense applications
have given rise to organisational problems in hospitalisation. Hospitalisation
duration times have generally decreased due to the acceleration
of diagnosis-therapeutic proceedings and the procedures to prevent hospital
infections.
Assistance to persons who are not self-sufficient – due to pathology, living
and family circumstances – has generated a demand for assistance to patients
that is often continuative, and also linked to a lack of long-term hospitalisation.
