CERCIVENTO: A WALK AMONG ART, HISTORY AND NATURE51The approximately 8 km route can be travelledon foot or by bicycle. It winds on paved anddirt roads and is suitable for everybody. Itstarts in the “Plan da Farie” an area near theancient forge museum “Farie di Checo” (1).Passing through the village, you can admirephotoceramic reproductions of masterpiecesfrom the history of art on the facades of thehouses: from works by Tiepolo to Raffaello,from Rembrandt to Caravaggio (via dellaMisericordia).In the countryside, known as “Taviele”, you canfind fields of officinal herbs (2) still cultivatedtoday according to ancient traditions. Alongthe route you can see the mosaic works (viadella Fede) made by Father Marko Ivan Rupnik.In Cercivento di Sopra there are paintingsrepresenting the life of Mary (via di Maria),ceramic reproductions of Raffaello’sTransfiguration and Michelangelo’s LastJudgment. These works are inserted in acontext of courtyards and historic houses (3)dating back to 1600. Continuing your walk, youwill find yourself in front of the Crist di Tof (4),an ancient cross dating back to 1754, which,in the past, marked a resting point duringreligious processions coming from the hamlets.The route continues towards the hamlet of“Vidâl” up to the public wash house (5); hereyou can choose whether to continue or returnto the starting point.The second part of the route, unpaved alongthe forest track, is completely immersed innature and is suitable for sportsmen, familiesor less experienced hikers. Along the way, thereis a farm and experimental biodynamic apiary(6), both of which can be visited. Climbing downthe road of Mount Tenchia, near the cemetery,you can see the monument (7) erected inmemory of the four soldiers of the Alpine ArmyCorps who were executed on 1 July 1916.Once you reach Piazza della Pieve (8), youcan admire the mosaics made by the MosaicSchool of Spilimbergo (History of Salvation)and, on one side, the vicarage Casa Canonica,dating back to the early 1600 s , whose vaultshave recently been frescoed by Maestro PaoloOrlando.Route general data8 km 2.5 hdirt roadpaved roadpetfriendlynight timeaccessibilityaccessibleroadCerciventowww.comune.cercivento.ud.it
