THE “3+3+4“ NEW ACADEMIC STRUCTURE
「3+3+4」 新 學 制
Since its inception in September 2012, the “3+3+4” new
academic structure has been implemented in the UGC sector
for five years. The first batch of students studying under the
“3+3+4” academic structure has graduated in the 2015/16
academic year. They have benefitted from the additional year
of the carefully re-engineered undergraduate curriculum that
helped them better prepare themselves for future careers and
further study. Broad-based admission mechanisms have been
adopted by most of the universities to admit students to the
academic faculty or school, instead of specific programmes.
Under these arrangements, students would be given the
flexibility to defer their choice of a major/specific programme
to a later stage of their study, which offers them an opportunity
to have a taste of different subjects in their first year of studies
before choosing their majors in the sophomore year.
高 等 教 育 界 於 2012 年 9 月 推 行 「3+3+4」 學 制 ,
至 今 已 經 五 年 , 首 批 新 學 制 的 學 生 已 於 2015/16
學 年 畢 業 。 學 士 學 位 課 程 經 仔 細 重 組 , 新 增 的
一 年 有 助 同 學 投 身 事 業 發 展 及 進 修 。 大 部 分 大
學 均 採 取 綜 合 招 生 機 制 , 學 生 先 獲 錄 取 入 讀 某
個 學 院 而 非 修 讀 某 項 特 定 課 程 , 待 升 上 較 高 年
級 才 選 修 主 修 科 目 ╱ 特 定 課 程 。 此 項 安 排 為 學
生 提 供 更 大 彈 性 , 能 讓 學 生 有 機 會 在 一 年 級 涉
獵 不 同 學 科 , 然 後 在 二 年 級 才 選 修 主 修 科 目 。
Capital Works
The implementation of the new normative four-year
undergraduate programme resulted in a substantial increase
in the overall undergraduate enrolment at the UGC-funded
universities. With the Legislative Council’s approval of $5.84
billion, the UGC-funded universities carried out a number
of capital works projects to provide additional teaching and
learning facilities in support of the new academic structure.
All these capital works projects have been completed.

新 的 四 年 制 學 士 學 位 規 範 課 程 推 出 後 , 八 所 資
助 大 學 修 讀 學 士 學 位 課 程 的 整 體 學 生 人 數 大
增 。 立 法 會 通 過 撥 款 58.4 億 元 , 供 八 所 資 助 大
學 進 行 多 項 基 本 工 程 項 目 , 增 設 教 與 學 設 施 ,
以 配 合 新 學 制 的 需 要 。 所 有 項 目 現 已 完 成 。
