Jameos del Agua - Fundación César Manrique

Al subir por estas escaleras, si se
mira hacia atrás, se encuentra una
nueva vista del lago, con sus aguas
tranquilas y luminosas, mientras que
si se sigue hacia delante, se alcanza el
nivel superior del Jameo Grande.
Pero antes de llegar a esa plataforma
abierta, César Manrique dispuso unas
celosías, construidas con piedra
volcánica del lugar, que sirven tanto
para ocultar los aseos como para
demorar la visión del espacio abierto
por el jameo.
La característica de este jameo,
más ancho que el primero pero de
menor altura, es que, en el centro, el
artista ha construido una piscina cuya
forma, orgánica y caprichosa, se
configura por curvas suaves. Es como
si el suelo, de manera natural, se
hubiera hundido mansamente por el
centro formando una especie de
elástico cráter. Sin embargo, mientras
que en la barandilla que rodea el lago
azul o en la celosía que permite
retrasar la visión del Jameo Grande,
César Manrique ha utilizado la
materia volcánica en su estado
natural, sin cortar, desbastar o pulir,
aquí la piscina se presenta como algo
totalmente artificial.

materials, it ponds water that also

hinaufsteigt und hinter sich schaut,
eröffnet sich ihm ein neuer Blick auf
den See, mit seinem stillen, glänzenden
Wasser. Beim Weitergehen kommt man
an den oberen Teil des Jameo Grande.
Vor dieser offenen Plattform hat César
Manrique einige Abschirmungen aus
dem Vulkanstein des Ortes angeordnet,
die dazu dienen, die Toiletten zu
verbergen und die Sicht auf den vom
Jameo eröffneten Raum zu verzögern.
Das Charakteristische dieses Jameos,
der breiter ist als der erste aber
weniger hoch, ist das in seiner Mitte
gebaute Schwimmbad, dessen
organische und willkürliche Form
sanfte Kurven aufweist. Es ist, als hätte
der Boden sich auf natürliche Weise in
der Mitte sanft gesenkt, um eine Art
elastischen Krater zu bilden. Während
César Manrique für das Geländer, das
den blauen See umgibt, oder die
Abschirmungen, die den Blick auf den
Jameo Grande verdecken, das
vulkanische Material in seinem
natürlichen Zustand verwendet hat, das
heißt, ohne es zu schneiden,
abzuschleifen oder zu polieren, soll das
