desinteresadamente, buscando en el
panorama que se ofrece a su
contemplación aquello que tiene de
estético. En este sentido, lo que
sorprende de Lanzarote no es tanto
la estatura de los volcanes, que
apenas superan los 600 metros, como
ciertas cualidades que sólo pueden
ser percibidas en este lugar del
mundo, por ejemplo, el color de los
suelos, los inmensos mares de lava
crespa, las variadas texturas de las
rocas, la soledad de los valles, la
limpidez de la luz, la resistente
vegetación que coloniza las inertes
piedras que, entre otros muchos
factores, configuran unos escenarios
extraños por lo insólito.
Un caso muy concreto de paisaje
lanzaroteño lo ofrece el Malpaís de la
Corona, que se extiende desde la
Meseta de Guatifay, con su alineación
de volcanes entre los que destaca el
de La Corona, de característica
silueta troncocónica, hasta la costa.
Este territorio forma una unidad
geomorfológica y paisajística de
indudable interés por su
singularidad.

the resilient plant life that
colonizes the inert rock, among
other factors, forge a strange and
original scenery.
The La Corona badlands, one
very specific example of the
Lanzarote landscape, stretch from
the Guatifay Plateau, with its line
of typically trunco-conical
volcanoes, La Corona among them,
to the coast. Incomparable as a
geomorphological and scenic unit,
this land has an indisputable
allure.
Because the inaccessibility of the
terrain makes it unfit for farming
or human settlements, two highly

Interessen zu verfolgen. Er sucht in
dem, was sich seinen Augen bietet, nur
den ästhetischen Aspekt. In diesem
Sinne überraschen in Lanzarote nicht
so sehr die Höhe der Vulkane, die
kaum 600 Meter überschreitet,
sondern andere Besonderheiten, die
nur an diesem Platz der Welt zu sehen
sind. Zum Beispiel die Farbe des
Bodens, die immense Fläche von
scharfkantigen Lavabrocken, die
verschiedenartige Textur der Felsen,
die Einsamkeit der Täler, die Klarheit
des Lichts, die widerstandsfähigen
Pflanzen, die die regungslosen Steine
bewachsen, und vieles mehr bieten ein
ungewohntes und außerordentlich
beeindruckendes Bild.
Ein ganz konkretes Beispiel der
Landschaft Lanzarotes ist das Malpaís
de la Corona, das sich von der
Guatifay-Ebene mit ihren Vulkanen,
unter denen La Corona mit seiner
charakteristischen kegelstumpfförmigen
Silhouette hervorsticht, bis zur Küste
erstreckt. Dieses Gebiet bildet eine
einzigartige geomorphologische
Landschaftseinheit, die zweifellos von
größtem Interesse ist.
