mar al fondo, oscuros montes de lava y
ceniza, un volcán en erupción,
blanquísimas casas típicas y plantas
propias del lugar, como palmeras,
cactus y chumberas, que sintetizan
muy característicamente diferentes
lugares de la isla. De la misma manera,
estos murales, compuestos con esos
elementos, tratan de temas
lanzaroteños, como la vendimia, lo que
permite al artista pintar algunos
detalles de racimos de la uva blanca de
malvasía, o la pesca, escena en la que
presenta, con fidelidad ictiológica,
algunos de los diversos peces que se
capturan en las costas de Lanzarote.
Obviamente, unos murales
realizados para un Parador de
Turismo parece que deben responder
a aquellos temas y representar

and landscapes typical of the
island of Lanzarote, such as the La
Geria vineyards, the beach with
the sea in the background, dark
hills of lava and ash, an erupting
volcano, typical white houses and
native plants such as palm trees,
cacti and prickly pears, which
synthesize different places on the
island. In a similar vein, these
murals and the elements
comprising them hinge on island
themes such as the grape harvest
or fishing. These enabled the artist
to paint details of clusters of
Malvasia white wine grapes, for
instance, or in the fishing scene, to
portray some of the fish species
caught off the coast of Lanzarote
to ichthyological perfection.
Murals painted for a national
inn designed to cater to the tourist
trade should obviously portray
themes and represent allegories
comprising the clichéd image of the
place in question, which the artist
knew very well. In this regard,
