Mitteilung zur Gründung des EASA-Netzwerks „Medical Anthropology“Dear colleagues,We are happy to announce that a MedicalAnthropology Network has been establishedwithin the European Association for SocialAnthropologists (EASA) on 19 September2006 at the 9th EASA Conference „Europeand the World“ in Bristol (United Kingdom).The steering group we elected at the 2004EASA conference in Vienna, Els van Dongen(Netherlands), Elisabeth Hsu (United Kingdom),Hansjörg Dilger (Germany/United States)and Agita Luse (United Kingdom/Latvia),prepared and conducted the business meetingand the elections.The following nominees have been electedfor a period of 2 years- Brigit Obrist (Switzerland), Chair- Ivo Quaranta (Italy), Vice Chair- Stefan Ecks (United Kingdom), RepresentativeTeaching- Rachael Gooberman-Hill (United Kingdom),Representative Applied Medical Anthropology- Melissa Parker (United Kingdom), RepresentativeGeneral Medical Anthropology- Doreen Montag (United Kingdom, Germany),Student Representative- Agita Luse (United Kingdom, Latvia), It-OfficeWithin the next three months, we shall developa workplan for the coming two yearsbased on the suggestions of the steeringgroup. Our first and most obvious task is thedevelopment of a homepage which will followshortly.
