Ebenso die Nachfrage nach dem Tagungs-und Kongressgeschäft, mit mehr als 100 Terminen im Jahr. Auch mit der IN-NOPROM hat man sich einen Namen gemacht, Fachmesse und Forum für Industrieund Innovation, 2011 erstmals in der „Ekaterinburg-Expo“ inszeniert, einem architektonischund technisch anspruchsvollen Gelände, mit der nach Moskau größtenAusstellungsfläche in ganz Russland. Bei der viertägigen Messe im Juli 2013 wurdenrund 53.000 Besucher gezählt, darunter Delegationen aus 70 Ländern der Welt.Ob Ekaterinburg 2020 im Rampenlicht der Wirtschaftswelt stehen wird, bleibtspannend, doch eines ist sicher: Die Stadt kann sich jedem internationalen Vergleichstellen, daran sind sowohl die ansässigen Unternehmen als auch die Regierunginteressiert, man ist auch zu großen finanziellen Investitionen bereit. Ekaterinburg presents itself as the embodiment of industrialisationin the 21st century: young, dynamic and cosmopolitan. Just one more reasonfor it to secure the role of host of the World’s Fair. The proposed theme of the expo,“Global Mind”, would be a perfect reflection of the city’s image.Around 15 years ago, Ekaterinburg began to position itself internationally asan attractive destination for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and other events.The results are clear to see: Ekaterinburg is home to one of Russia’s most modernairports, with uncomplicated connections to many countries around the worldand a steadily increasing number of passengers and flights. Also growing is thedemand in the meeting and conference business, with more than 100 events ayear. INNOPROM, the exhibition and forum for industry and innovation, has alsohelped Ekaterinburg make a name for itself. INNOPROM was first held in 2011 at EkaterinburgExpo, an architecturally and technically sophisticated exhibition centreand the largest exhibition space in all of Russia outside of Moscow. Around 53,000visitors were counted at the fourth forum in July 2013, including delegations from70 different nations.It remains to be seen whether the global spotlight will be on Ekaterinburgin 2020, but one thing is for certain: the city can stand up to any internationalcomparison.
