all rent <strong>arrears</strong> claims (see Table 5 .14) . Also, as<br />

shown <strong>in</strong> Table 5 .14, for a few <strong>association</strong>s <strong>the</strong><br />

figure was much higher . One o<strong>the</strong>r notable po<strong>in</strong>t<br />

from this table is that, while four transfer landlords<br />

are represented, <strong>the</strong> scale of Ground 8 activity<br />

by such <strong>association</strong>s was relatively modest . This<br />

might reflect tighter organisational rules around <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>stances <strong>in</strong> which such powers could be used<br />

(eg a stipulation that <strong>the</strong>y were not for use <strong>in</strong><br />

relation to pre-transfer tenants) .<br />

As demonstrated <strong>in</strong> a case reported <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> hous<strong>in</strong>g<br />

seek possession under Ground 8 <strong>in</strong> relation to<br />

shared ownership dwell<strong>in</strong>gs as well as rented<br />

homes . While this was not a central concern<br />

for <strong>the</strong> research, <strong>the</strong> survey did identify three<br />

<strong>association</strong>s (<strong>in</strong> addition to Midland Heart which<br />

failed to respond), which had made recent use of<br />

Ground 8 <strong>in</strong> actions concern<strong>in</strong>g shar<strong>in</strong>g owners .<br />

Hav<strong>in</strong>g identified relevant organisations it would be<br />

possible to fur<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong>vestigate <strong>the</strong> circumstances<br />

and outcomes of such actions .<br />
