Section 7000 – Instructional Program<br />
7110 Program of Instruction 7110<br />
The District shall establish and continuously work to improve the core curriculum or<br />
basic program for the District.<br />
Elementary Program<br />
The District’s elementary configuration is defined as grades Pre-K – 5 and Pre-K – 8.<br />
Core Curriculum<br />
The core curriculum in the District’s elementary school(s) or Center Programs is<br />
comprised of the following subject areas:<br />
English/Language Arts Social Studies<br />
Mathematics Technology<br />
Science Career Awareness<br />
Computer Education World Language<br />
Vocational-Technical Practical/Fine Arts<br />
The District’s instructional program will identify, continually improve, and be aligned to<br />
the Core Content Standards of the State of Michigan, including the grade and phase level<br />
benchmarks (including Student Achievement Standards), for the District’s elementary students.<br />
These Student Achievement Standards will be compatible with the District’s educational mission,<br />
the District’s goals and established performance objectives. Student Achievement Standards<br />
include academic standards and life long learning standards.<br />
Student Achievement Standards Evaluation<br />
The Superintendent, or designee, shall develop an evaluation process to measure the<br />
attainment of Student Achievement Standards and performance objectives.<br />
Middle School<br />
The District’s middle school grades are established as grades 6-8.<br />
Core Curriculum<br />
The core curriculum in the District’s middle schools and/or center programs is comprised<br />
of the following subject areas:<br />
Student Achievement Standards<br />
English/Language Arts Mathematics<br />
Science Social Studies<br />
Technology Career Exploration<br />
Vocational/Technical World Language<br />
Practical/Fine Arts<br />
