Section 9000 – General <strong>Public</strong> and Organizational Relations<br />

9720 Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and School Partnerships (Cf. 7175) 9720<br />

The Board encourages parent(s)/guardian(s) involvement in the schools through<br />

programs and activities designed to increase parent(s)/guardian(s)-school communications and to<br />

involve parent(s)/guardian(s) in the development and implementation of educational policies and<br />

school programs.<br />

The Superintendent is responsible for facilitating parent(s)/guardian(s) involvement in the<br />

schools by affording special consideration to single and working parent(s)/guardian(s). <strong>Schools</strong><br />

should schedule meetings, programs, and events so that working parent(s)/guardian(s) can attend.<br />

9840 Student Teaching 9840<br />

The Board may consider the use of student teachers in classes and programs maintained<br />

by the District upon establishment of written agreements with area colleges and universities.<br />

9920 School Accreditation 9920<br />

The Board shall make every effort through its policies and decisions to operate an<br />

educational program that shall meet the criteria of the Michigan Accreditation Plan as provided<br />

by the Michigan State Board of Education and the North Central Association of Secondary<br />

<strong>Schools</strong> and Colleges.<br />

District administrators and staff shall cooperate fully with these associations in their<br />

periodic evaluations of the schools in the District and shall keep the Board informed as to the<br />

status of these evaluations.<br />

The Superintendent shall keep the Board informed regarding weaknesses that may<br />

endanger accreditation and shall make recommendations that shall aim at correcting such<br />

weaknesses.<br />
