Section 8000 – Students<br />
8020 Attendance 8020-2<br />
It is the parent(s)/guardian(s) responsibility to provide transportation to such non-public<br />
religious activities.<br />
Appeal Procedure<br />
A pupil negatively impacted by this attendance policy has the right to appeal. The<br />
Superintendent will establish administrative rules for the appeal process.<br />

8035 Absences and Excuses (Cf. 8020) 8035<br />
The Board, other than for illness or other reasons specifically referenced in Board policy,<br />
discourages any absence from school. All absences shall be either excused or unexcused.<br />
Appropriate rules and regulations regarding student absences shall be developed by the<br />
administrative staff.<br />

8040 School Admissions 8040<br />
The enrolling school official shall enter on the student’s permanent record card the<br />
student’s legal name and the name, address and telephone number of his/her lawful custodian(s),<br />
or other relatives acting as caregivers, as required in Board policy 8090 Release of a Student<br />
During the School Day. Any unusual custody circumstances shall be explained and updated.<br />
Legal custody dispositions may be required to be on file in the student’s CA60. The District may<br />
require “Power of Attorney” papers for relatives of the student acting as caregivers in the stead of<br />
the legal parent(s)/guardian(s).<br />
Non-Resident Students<br />
A non-resident student shall be defined as any student who does not meet the<br />
requirements to be a resident student of the District, as defined in state law. The enrollment of<br />
non-resident students is a privilege granted by the District and is not a legal right provided to the<br />
non-resident student and/or his/her parent(s)/ guardian(s). Non-resident students shall not be<br />
granted or refused enrollment based upon disability, religion, race, color, national origin, sex,<br />
height, or weight, or generally, in violation of any state or federal law prohibiting discrimination.<br />
The Board will consider and may permit the enrollment of non-resident students upon<br />
receiving a release from the school District of residence or upon payment of tuition unless exempt<br />
from either by state law.<br />
