Board Bylaws<br />

Section 4. <strong>Public</strong> School Academies<br />

The Board believes that public school academies can serve a useful function in the<br />

education of students. In an effort to foster diversity of educational opportunity without<br />

sacrificing quality of education or unnecessary duplication, the Board may enter into a contract<br />

with, and charter a public school academy(s), under the guidelines set forth in the contractual<br />

agreement and guidelines established by the Superintendent.<br />

Review<br />

The Superintendent has the authority to conduct a periodic review of the operations and<br />

finances of an academy and submit a report to the Board.<br />

Contract Limitations<br />

No contracts between the Board and a public school academy shall exceed three years.<br />

Contracts may be renewed for an additional time only by mutual written agreement between the<br />

Board and the academy.<br />

Audits<br />

The Superintendent has the authority to designate the certified public accountant that<br />

shall conduct a financial audit of the academy.<br />

The Superintendent shall recommend approval, modification, amendment, or rejection of<br />

all applications for public school academies to the Board.<br />
