your good sense will prevail. . . . We heard of you this<br />

1817 Jan 19 Letter from Abram in East Bergholt to J.C. in London: "Your<br />

request of pictures and sketches. . .shall be attended to<br />

when I can get an opportunity. I know the Doctor was pleas'd<br />

1817 Jan 21 Farington records: "<strong>Constable</strong> called to inform me that all was<br />

going on well with Dr. Rudd, Mrs. <strong>Constable</strong>'s Grandfather, to<br />

whom, understanding it wd. be adviseable to do so, <strong>Constable</strong><br />

has written twice, and His letters have been well recd.—With<br />

Mr. Bicknell, Father of Mrs. <strong>Constable</strong>, the latter had a<br />

conversation the night before his marriage, and warm words<br />

passed on both sides: this Mr. Bicknell has expressed His<br />

seating arrangement shows Farington, Fred. Lane, S. Lane,<br />

evening <strong>Constable</strong>'s lodgings I went to at tea time & there<br />

found with Him & Mrs. <strong>Constable</strong>, Wm. Henderson, Son of the<br />

Dentist, & His wife, also S. Lane and Jackson, & a young<br />
