Artists will take place on Wednesday the 15th of September<br />

1824 and that they will be happy to receive as many of your<br />

1824 Aug 29 Letter (posted 29th, apparently of August) from J.C. in<br />

Brighton to <strong>John</strong> Fisher: "did you like the picture I sent you to<br />

show? Had I recollected your objection to that picture (the<br />

'Nass') I should have sent you Hampstead. . . . I am however<br />

getting on with my French jobs. One of the largest is quite<br />

complete, and is my best, in freshness and sparkle—with<br />

repose—which is my struggle just now. . . . In short there is<br />

nothing here for a painter but the breakers—& sky—which<br />

have been lovely indeed and always varying." J.C. includes<br />

two sketches, a small sketch of the Chain Pier at Brighton,<br />

and a sketch of boats with different types of sails, which
