1808 July 1 Farington records: "<strong>Constable</strong> told me that Sir Geo. Beaumont<br />

had given Arnald 100 guineas for His large landscape which<br />

was exhibited in the Anti-room of the Academy. . . .<br />

<strong>Constable</strong> sd. Mr. West had complained of His pictures at<br />

Lord Grosvenor's being ill hung, & said 'It was a national<br />

concern'—particularly His Wolfe & La Hogue." (Farington IX,<br />
