1808 July 1 Farington records: "Constable told me that Sir Geo. Beaumont
had given Arnald 100 guineas for His large landscape which
was exhibited in the Anti-room of the Academy. . . .
Constable sd. Mr. West had complained of His pictures at
Lord Grosvenor's being ill hung, & said 'It was a national
concern'—particularly His Wolfe & La Hogue." (Farington IX,
