Team doctors’ meeting<br />
• <strong>IOC</strong> Medical Commission<br />
Prior to the Games, NAOC and the <strong>IOC</strong><br />
Medical Commission hosted a meeting for the<br />
NOC team doctors and physiotherapists.<br />
During the Games, the <strong>IOC</strong> Medical<br />
Commission held its daily meeting at 10:00<br />
p.m., when NAOC reported on the status of<br />
medical facilities, helicopters and other emergency<br />
vehicles, treatment of athlete injuries,<br />
and so forth. The Commission was headquartered<br />
at the Mitsui Garden Hotel in Nagano<br />
City.<br />
Medical Care<br />
A polyclinic was established in the Olympic<br />
Village and medical clinics / first aid stations<br />
were set up at 37 other locations within Olympic<br />
facilities. On any given day, these were staffed<br />
by a maximum of 480 people, for a cumulative<br />
total of some 7,700 staff over the period of the<br />
Games, during which time a total of 5,968 people<br />
sought medical treatment.<br />
• Olympic Village Polyclinic<br />
Located in the Residential Zone, the 500m 2<br />
polyclinic boasted consulting rooms for general<br />
and specialist medical treatment, including<br />
orthopaedic and ophthalmological<br />
services, a dental clinic, treatment room, pharmacy,<br />
physiotherapy room, X-ray lab, examination<br />
room, doping control station, gender<br />
verification station, and office space for the<br />
<strong>IOC</strong> Medical Commission. With the cooperation<br />
