During the ICPGs there were several incidents<br />
where snowcats and other snow-packing machines<br />
cut through cables; for the Games, the location<br />
of cables was decided in consultation<br />
with machine operators, and this succeeded in<br />
drastically cutting the number of such incidents<br />
to only two.<br />

Audio systems were designed to provide<br />
crystal-clear sound to spectators at the competition<br />
facilities. This was vital not only for providing<br />
information to spectators on the progress of<br />
the competition, but also to help generate a<br />
mood of excitement at the venues.<br />
Playback equipment included cassette tape<br />
and compact disc players, supplemented by<br />
hard disc recorders and mini discs. Existing<br />
speaker equipment was used wherever possible,<br />
augmented by temporary installations where<br />
necessary. Central cluster speakers were installed<br />
temporarily at the figure skating venue<br />
and the ice hockey venues where music played<br />
