Olympic Area Transportation
for NOCs
In principle, athletes were transported by
shuttle bus and officials were provided with a
number of assigned vehicles and drivers based
on the size of their NOC delegation. Shuttle
buses operated according to a fixed timetable
and ran from the Olympic Village directly to
venues on days when competitions or official
practices were held, or followed a route covering
a number of venues in one particular area.
Athletes from different NOCs all shared the
same buses, although one bus was placed at the
disposal of each of the ice hockey teams.
Shuttle buses in Hakuba and Nozawa
Onsen, where some athletes were staying in
order to be closer to competition venues, were
utilised less than expected, as NOCs preferred
to use assigned vehicles.
NAOC provided a total of 316 dedicated vehicles
to NOCs, who rented an additional 112
vehicles privately.
