Traffic Management Systems<br />
The Olympic Games provided a valuable<br />
opportunity to promote the latest technology for<br />
traffic management and relaying information to<br />
drivers and pedestrians. The Japanese government<br />
has been developing an Intelligent<br />
Transport System (ITS), and a part of this system<br />
was tested during the Nagano Games.<br />
Systems utilised during the Games proved highly<br />
effective for easing traffic flow.<br />

A system of infrared beacons and ID sensors<br />
used for transmitting real-time information<br />
through a navigation system to drivers of<br />
Games vehicles. It comprises the following:<br />

Olympic traffic by changing traffic signals to<br />
green at the approach of a Games vehicle.
