to result in strong enrollment predictions for the near future. However, the College may
need to engage in outreach activities to promote the value of a college education.
Delano Community
The City of Delano, where the Bakersfield College Education Center is located, is a
community located around the intersection of California Highways 99 and 155. The City is in both
Tulare and Kern Counties. Based on analysis of residential zip codes reported by enrolled students,
the majority of students live within a 10-mile radius of the Educational Center. This area comprises
the effective service area of the Center and is illustrated in the graphic below.

The population in this effective service area was 64,547 in the year 2000 and is projected to
be at 83,771 by 2015. The area is expected to grow at an annual rate of 1.22% as compared to the
