College Going Age Group Growth in Effective Service Area

For the year 2010, the highest educational attainment among the population age 25 and
older within the effective service area is shown below. Approximately 80% of the adult population
has not taken any college courses. Those residents who have no college degree (either Associate’s or
Bachelor’s) comprise 91 percent of the young adult or older population in the effective service area.
These data point to a critical need for effective basic skills instruction. Many of these adults would
likely gain access to a broader range of employment opportunities upon completing a community
college education.
