ongoing programmes <strong>of</strong> the DAC, and to<br />
make recommendations, if required, on<br />
appropriate improvements in the strategy<br />
and design <strong>of</strong> the scheme to incorporate<br />
gender perspectives.<br />
<strong>Co</strong>llecting, analyzing, and documenting<br />
success stories <strong>of</strong> women farmers.<br />
Assessing gender content and<br />
generating gender-disaggregated data in<br />
respect <strong>of</strong> various schemes and<br />
programmes <strong>of</strong> the DAC.<br />
Gender Sensitisation Modules (GSM) for<br />
programme implementers at three<br />
different levels, namely, senior, middle<br />
and cutting edge level, developed by the<br />
NGRCA through MANAGE, are being<br />
utilised to sensitise extension<br />
functionaries at various levels.<br />
Revising reporting and monitoring<br />
formats to generate gender-disaggregated<br />
data.<br />
As a part <strong>of</strong> its networking strategies, the<br />
NGRCA is committed to initiating<br />
appropriate action on the National Plan<br />
<strong>of</strong> Action on the National Policy for<br />
Empowerment <strong>of</strong> Women (NPEW),<br />
formulated by the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Women and<br />
Child Development (MoW&CD).<br />
24.5 The important mainstreaming efforts<br />
within various subject matter divisions are briefly<br />
given below:<br />
I. Under the Technology Mission for<br />
Integrated Development <strong>of</strong> Horticulture<br />
scheme in the North Eastern States<br />
including Sikkim, assistance provided for<br />
women farmers is enumerated as under:<br />
i) Entrepreneurial Development: The<br />
programme envisages making<br />
women farmers self-reliant by<br />
providing them with equal<br />
opportunities, so that they are able<br />
to avail the benefits and<br />
opportunities <strong>of</strong> the existing<br />
agricultural systems.<br />
ii) Organisation/identification <strong>of</strong><br />
women's groups, which would act<br />
as a network for channelising<br />
horticultural support.<br />
iii) Need assessment <strong>of</strong> women<br />
farmers in terms <strong>of</strong> horticulture<br />
support such as input, technological<br />
and extension etc.<br />
iv) Prioritising the activities <strong>of</strong> individual<br />
women's groups on the basis <strong>of</strong><br />
need assessments.<br />
v) Providing adequate organisational<br />
and financial support to women<br />
self-help groups to make them selfreliant,<br />
so that they are able to<br />
orchestrate their own activities and<br />
resources<br />
interaction.<br />

vi) Provide technical training to women<br />
farmers in horticulture and allied<br />
areas.<br />
vii) Provide training in increased<br />
managerial, organisational,<br />
entrepreneurial, and decision<br />
making skills.<br />
viii) Baseline surveys to identify the<br />
amount and type <strong>of</strong> work being<br />
contributed by women in the field<br />
<strong>of</strong> horticulture, their role in the<br />
decision making process, and<br />
problems faced by them.<br />
