1.27 The cafeteria provides support for various<br />

important initiatives. Farm Schools in the fields<br />

<strong>of</strong> outstanding farmers are being promoted at<br />

the block/gram panchayat level. Farmer-to-farmer<br />

extension support within the village is also being<br />

promoted. Funding windows have been provided<br />

at both state and district levels for implementing<br />

innovative extension activities not specifically<br />

covered under the programme. Awards for<br />

farmers have been instituted at the block, district,<br />

and state levels. <strong>Co</strong>mmunity radio stations<br />

(CRSs), set up by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs),<br />

SAUs and private organizations have been<br />

promoted under this programme. Nongovernmental<br />

implementing agencies are being<br />

encouraged by providing the flexibility <strong>of</strong> having<br />

Extension Work Plans prepared and approved at<br />

the state level. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 10 per cent <strong>of</strong> the<br />

programme outlay is to be utilised through these<br />

agencies. Non-governmental implementing<br />

agencies (excluding the corporate sector) would<br />

also be eligible for service charges <strong>of</strong> up to a<br />

maximum <strong>of</strong> 10 per cent <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> the<br />

extension activities implemented through them.<br />

A dedicated funding window is available for the<br />

implementation <strong>of</strong> extension activities through<br />

agri-preneurs.<br />

1.28 Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) have<br />

been widely promoted under the scheme with<br />

the involvement <strong>of</strong> over 560 Non-Governmental<br />

Agencies in the execution <strong>of</strong> various extension<br />

activities in 21 states with over a dozen MoUs<br />

signed with such partners.<br />

1.29 Various innovative activities have been<br />

taken up under the scheme such as the<br />

organisation <strong>of</strong> 'Farmer Development Workshops<br />

and Exhibitions', in 21 States to disseminate<br />

information on all aspects <strong>of</strong> modern<br />

technologies in agriculture and allied sectors,<br />

in close association with ICAR Institutes, line<br />

departments, farmers' organisations, input<br />

agencies, growers' associations, banking<br />

institutions, etc.<br />

1.30 The achievements against the overall<br />

targets set for the Scheme for 5 years are as<br />
