part <strong>of</strong> each field project caters to the training<br />

and extension and marketing needs <strong>of</strong> women<br />

An educational and development project for<br />

women is running in the North Eastern Region<br />

at East Imphal, Manipur<br />

During the year <strong>2009</strong>-10, (up to November<br />

<strong>2009</strong>), 1,17,930 persons were imparted<br />

education and training by these projects<br />

NCDC has provided financial assistance to the<br />

tune <strong>of</strong> Rs. 126.37 crore to Women<br />

<strong>Co</strong>operatives in India<br />

Up to 31.3.<strong>2009</strong>, the NCDC has cumulatively<br />

sanctioned and released financial assistance <strong>of</strong><br />

Rs. 133.73 crore and Rs. 1.78 crore respectively<br />

for the development <strong>of</strong> cooperative societies<br />

exclusively organised by women. This includes<br />

Food Grain Processing, Plantation Crops,<br />

Oilseeds processing, Fisheries, Integrated<br />

<strong>Co</strong>operative Development Projects (ICDP),<br />

Spinning Mills, Handloom and Power Loom<br />

Weaving and Sugar Mills, etc.<br />

24,348 Women Self-Help Groups and<br />

System Development Project for 18,075 Women User Groups have been<br />

Rainfed Areas formed in the project areas covered under the<br />

programme<br />

5. Mechanisation Promotion and Strengthening Around 1,575 gender friendly tools/equipment<br />

and Technology <strong>of</strong> Agricultural Agricultural have been distributed among farm women<br />

Mechanisation through Training,<br />

Testing and Demonstration<br />

during <strong>2009</strong>-10<br />

Outsourcing <strong>of</strong> Training and Separate physical targets have been fixed for<br />

for popularising them<br />

6. Integrated Nutrient National Programme for Organic 25 per cent seats have been reserved for<br />

Management (INM) Farming (NPOF), training women in organic farming<br />

7. Agricultural Rural Godown Scheme 1,077 godowns with a capacity <strong>of</strong> 16.82 lakh<br />

Marketing MTs and a subsidy <strong>of</strong> Rs. 45.46 crore have been<br />

sanctioned for women entrepreneurs<br />
