(i) between /s/ or /ʒ/ (particularly in ce, je) and a s<strong>to</strong>p, e.g.<br />

pronounced /skc/ in conversation), ce qui me plaît /s ki m<br />

plε/, ce petit chien /s pcti ʃjh/, cependant /spede/, se peut-il<br />

que (...)? /s pø t il kc/, se connaissent-ils? /s kbnεs t il/,<br />

se tenait-il bien? /s tcnεt il bjh/, je pars maintenant /ʒ par<br />

mhtne/, je demande à vous voir /ʒ dcmed a vu vwa:r/, je te<br />

dis une chose /ʒ tc di yn ʃo:z/;<br />

(ii) (less frequently than in the circumstances referred <strong>to</strong> in<br />

(i) above) between /s/ or /ʒ and a consonant other than a<br />

s<strong>to</strong>p, e.g. ce n’est pas beau /s nε pa bo/, ce matin /s math/, cela<br />

me plaît /sla m plε/, se lave-t-il? /s lav t il/, je vais le faire /ʒ vε<br />

l fε:r/, je vous crois /ʒ vu krwa/, je n’en veux pas /ʒ ne vø pa/<br />

(but see 11.5.1 (v) above);<br />

(iii) not infrequently in other circumstances, e.g. demain<br />

matin /dmh math/, venez me voir /vne m vwa:r/, petit idiot!<br />

/ptit idjo/, que voulez-vouz? /k vule vu/ – but only such forms
